Extra-Ordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist are lay people who are commissioned to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion when enough priests or deacons are not available. Some Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist are also trained and commissioned to bring Holy Communion to sick or homebound parishioners.
