Middle School (Gr. 6-8) R.O.C.K. CFF Program

“R.O.C.K.”
Relying on God, Open to growth, Called by Jesus, Kingdom builders

The Middle School R.O.C.K. program meets on Sunday and Wednesday evening, so families can choose which night best fits their schedule.  The Sunday night program is larger and tends to include a greater amount of activities than Wednesdays, because it is a 2-hour program, as opposed to an hour and a half on Wednesdays.
There are 3 main components to the R.O.C.K. program:
Small Groups - All students are assigned to a small group for the year with other students in their grade.  Small groups meet each week for at least 1 hour of the program time, and are led by a catechist and an aide.  The small groups work through a lesson together each week and topics include: The Sacraments, Jesus in the New Testament, Prayer, and Morality.
Large Group Time – Part of our time is also spent with all the grades together as one Large Group.  During this time we hear presentations on different topics, play games, and compete in activities against other Small Groups.  This time is typically high-energy and engaging for the students.
Sunday Night Live / R.O.C.K.-tivity – During this time, students can choose from various activities including basketball, ping pong, board games and other organized activities.  It’s a great time for them to build friendships and have some fun at church!  On Sunday nights, this time is offered once a month and is led by a team of high school students.  On Wednesday nights, this time is offered for half an hour every other week and is led by the Middle School Coordinator and other volunteers.

Please note that 8th graders will be preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation (see Sacramental Prep).

R.O.C.K. Retreats and Events
Social Events - Outside of the regular program, R.O.C.K. also offers students several spiritual and social events to attend throughout the year.   Events include: JOY Youth Rally (October), Advent Weekend Retreat, Luke 18 Weekend Retreat, SHINE Youth Rally, Lock-in Nights.  Many of these events are coordinated with other churches throughout our diocese and will include over 200 middle school students.  Registration and further information on these events is communicated throughout the year.

Parents:  The success of the Middle School program depends on your participation.  There are many ways that you can contribute to the program.  See page 4 for ways you can help.  Fill out  p. 17, the “Time and Talent” section of the registration form, and choose how you can best share yourself.  The responsibility of teaching the Stewardship way of life is both challenging and rewarding for parents.  It is by our example, we teach them.
For more information on R.O.C.K. contact Amanda Listen Middle School CFF Coordinator at 891-8867 x238.
