Elementary (Gr. K-5) CFF Program

In our Elementary classes, students explore a variety of Catholic Christian teachings and practices, including sacraments, morality, prayer, social justice.  Using our spiral curriculum, our children are formed in the richness of our faith year after year, going deeper in their journey to know, love and serve the Lord, Christian service, the Trinity, the Church, and Scripture. Catechists present lessons involving a diverse array of activities and learning/teaching methods to best help children grow in their faith.  Students also participate in large group time that incorporates our community life and develops deeper relationships among the children and God.  More information about some of the experiences and activities for elementary students is below.  Some of the experiences and activities for elementary students are G.Y.M. and Ministry Mentoring.
Many volunteers are needed in this program — catechists, aides, building/hallway helpers, attendance helpers, safety patrol, childcare, G.Y.M., substitutes, etc.  All parents are expected to volunteer in the program in some way; see page 17 of the registration form.
We are again offering three program times/days for Faith Formation for elementary students this year.  Please indicate your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of days on page 14 of the registration form.

See the Volunteer Descriptions and the volunteer page (page 17) of the registration form.

GOD - YOU - ME  (G.Y.M.)
Elementary students can come to Holy Family 20 minutes before class for G.Y.M. time.  This is a purely social time, with organized games and activities  Student participation is optional, but students must be signed in by the parent each week
Parent volunteers/supervisors are required in order for the G.Y.M. program to happen each week.  Parents must volunteer at least once a month to help supervise.  Without at least 4 parent supervisors, G.Y.M. will be cancelled that week.  Parent volunteer sign-up is on page 17 of the registration form.
(Please note that the gym is reserved for use by students during CFF classes unless otherwise noted.)

Ministry Mentoring
Grades 4 & 5 are given the opportunity to serve as liturgical ministers one weekend during the year.  The students learn more about the different ministries (lector, commentator, gift presenters, ushers, meeters & greeters, children's choir) and then choose one ministry they would like to learn and take part in during the mass.  The class before the students serve as Liturgical Ministers, the students are trained by adults who serve in that ministry.  At the mass, the adult mentors will stand with the students as they take part in their ministry for support and help if the students need it.

More information will be sent home with students before the assigned weekends.
