Early Childhood (older 3, 4 and young 5) CFF Program
Chairperson:  Linda Bujak

Classes for young children are offered on Sunday mornings during Masses.  This program will explore God’s love, God’s creation, and some basics of our Catholic faith.  This is done through age-appropriate and fun activities, crafts, games, songs and prayer and Bible stories.

Parents will be scheduled to volunteer in their child’s class either as a teacher or aide approximately every 4 weeks, and will need to complete the requirements for our safe environment, including a Background Check & “Protecting God’s Children” training.  Parents must sign their child in and out at the classroom door each week.  Parents are to see that their child uses the bathroom before class each week to eliminate potty trips during the hour.

Children must be potty-trained. Due to the multi-age structure of this program, the age bracket for children is:  must be 3 years old by June 1, 2008 and no older than 5 years old by June 1, 2008.  It should be noted that for kindergarteners, parents can choose Sunday morning Early Childhood (if child is no older than 5 years old by June 1, 2008), or kindergarten CFF in the Elementary CFF program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays; see p. 9.  It is also good to note that, for younger children, parents might decide to volunteer in the nursery and use that service until their child is ready for the Early Childhood program.

Parents, please carefully consider whether your child is ready for this program before registering.  Our teachers prepare for at least 10 children per class, supplies are purchased in advance for your child, a spot will be reserved for your child, and we place a limit on class size.  Our experience is that some children’s attendance can be low due to separation anxiety and/or the child being too tired for morning programs.  If you decide to try it, we understand if after a few classes that it’s just not going to work for your child, but please, contact the CFF office ASAP so we can invite the next child on the waiting list to begin attending class.  Also, please consider your family schedule and mass attendance at Holy Family, as we typically have about 25% of families who sign-up but only attend 5 or fewer classes.  Thank you for your thoughtful stewardship.

Early Childhood Classes are held every Sunday from  Oct. 5 to April 26
except:  Dec. 21 & 28, Mar. 15  and April 5 & 12.

To register your child, complete the registration form on p.15-18, selecting either Sundays at the 9:00 AM Mass (S 9) or Sundays at the 11:00** AM Mass (S 11).  Also, please state whether you will be a teacher or an aide by completing Time & Talent form on p. 16.

**Parents Note:  We have a coordinator for the 9AM EC program.  However, the 11AM program depends on a coordinator volunteering to recruit catechists, schedule catechists and parent aides, and ensure materials are ready each week.  This volunteer commitment requires about 10-15 hours in August and September, and then 1/2 hour per week during October-April.  Please contact Chris Shafer if interested.  If a coordinator is not found, 11AM registrants will be contacted and offered the 9AM program, if there is room.

For more information on the Sunday Early Childhood program, contact the CFF Office (891-8867) or Linda Bujak, Early Childhood CFF chairperson (698-9144).
